Windows 11 Compatibility
Collection-Master and vMedia are now sanctioned for use with Windows 11, which has been added to the list of Vertican Recommended Environments.
- Only Windows 11 Professional and Windows 11 Enterprise editions are compatible with Vertican environments.
- If you are running Windows 11 Professional or Enterprise, it is essential to use the current versions of our software.
Windows 11 Support
Collection-Master and vMedia running in Windows 11 environments are now eligible for support. As always, Vertican Professional Services may be required depending on the nature of the issue.
| Recommended | Not Supported |
| Windows 11 Professional | Windows 11 Home |
| Windows 11 Enterprise | Windows Enterprise Multi-Session Remote Desktop* |
* Windows Enterprise Multi-Session Remote Desktop is not Windows 11 but is a Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Protocol (RDS/RDP) product for Windows 11 that is sometimes referred to as “multi-session Windows 11” or “Azure Virtual Desktop”.
Users that are interested in Microsoft’s multi-session product should instead use Windows Server 2019 (Supported by VT) or Windows Server 2022 (Recommended by VT).
As a reminder, Windows Server 2016 has Limited/Legacy Support until January 12, 2027. We recommend that you migrate to a newer version by the end of 2026.
vMedia Printer Issues
vMedia users have experienced printer issues with Windows 11 and other environments.
- Print driver compatibility issues have been resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling the print drivers.
- While you should keep Windows 11 updated due to fix releases, it has a history of print spooler issues that may still occur with updates.
- Refer to Microsoft documentation for assistance with printer issues.
- If you are running vMedia on a Windows 2019 or 2022 Remote Desktop Services (RDS) or Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) terminal server:
- Microsoft terminal servers have special installation requirements for all applications.
- These special instructions apply if you wish to uninstall/reinstall vMedia or its print drivers in order to resolve print driver compatibility issues.
- Common terminal server procedures are documented in the vMedia Help Manual and Vertican Knowledge Base.
- vMedia Help Manual
- Setup > Install – Upgrade – Migrating > Installing vMedia on a Terminal Server.
- Vertican Knowledge Base
- Open Problem ID 005333 Installing vMedia on a Terminal Server, RDP, RDS or “Remote Desktop.”
- If this link does not open on the correct Problem ID, enter 5333 in the Problem ID field, click the [Search] button, and select 005333 in the results.
- vMedia Help Manual
- While Vertican provides the above help resources, your server setup may have unique requirements based on security or other factors.
- Due to the complexity of Microsoft terminal servers, we recommend using Vertican Professional Services for vMedia installation assistance.
Windows 11 Migration
- If you’d like to migrate to Windows 11 Professional or Enterprise editions, Vertican Professional Services can assist you. No prior approval from Vertican is required..
Windows 10 Compatibility
Vertican products remain compatible with 64-bit Windows 10, and we expect this compatibility to continue for the foreseeable future.
- However, because Microsoft support for Windows 10 ended on October 14, Windows 10 has been downgraded from “Recommended” to “Limited/Legacy Environment (Upgrade Recommended)” on the list of Vertican Recommended Environments:
- For those who wish to remain on Windows 10, it is important to apply security patches, which are only offered through Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates (ESU) program.
